If your MAWAQIT compass on iPhone is not pointing to the Qibla or just not moving at all, try the following solutions.

1- Make sure that you have allowed location access

Upon opening the MAWAQIT app the first time, you are asked to allow MAWAQIT to access your location in order to find the closest mosques to you.

If you have not allowed the first time, you can still do so or check that it was correctly done by going to the settings of your iPhone.

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, then activate " Location Serivces".

2. Then touch "MAWAQIT" and select "While Using the App"

2- Make sure you have activated "Compass Calibration"

Compass calibration is an option which helps calibrate the compass on iPhones so it is accurate

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services (at the bottom of the screen) and make sure the option "Compass Calibration" is activated

3- Activate "True North"

There are two North Poles: the magnetic North Pole and the geographic North Pole, which is the "True North". Both are separated by a distance of approximately 1900 kms.

The compass on iPhone uses the magnetic North Pole by default, but you can choose to use the geographic North Pole instead.

  1. Go to Settings>Compass> and activate "Use True North"

Once you have made all these changes, make sure to close the app and restart your iPhone.
